Remo Stars Crash Out of CAF Champions League

Remo Stars have been eliminated from the CAF Champions League following a 2-0 defeat to South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, champions lost the first leg 5-1 at home last week.

Daniel Ogunmodede’s side crashed out of the competition 7-1 on aggregate.

Nuno Santos put Sundowns ahead in the 20th minute.

The hosts got their second through Peter Shalulile one minute before the break.

Mamelodi Sundowns have now qualified for the group stage of the CAF Champions League.

Nigeria now has one club (Rivers United) remaining on the continent.

The group stage draw will be held on Monday, 3 November.
