Tinubu Blames Opposition for Hunger, Poverty

President Bola Tinubu has blamed his political opponents for the hunger and poverty confronting Nigerians, insisting that his administration is working to eradicate the economic challenges as he seeks re-election in 2027.

Tinubu made the remarks on Saturday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign flag-off rally at Ranchers Bees Stadium, also known as Kaduna Township Stadium, in Kaduna State, where he addressed party supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The President challenged opposition figures criticising his administration over hunger and poverty, arguing that they were responsible for creating the problems his government was now trying to resolve. “I have an argument. I hear my opponent talking about hunger, poverty. Who created it? They did! They created the hunger, they created the poverty. We are trying to eradicate it,” he said.

Tinubu also defended his administration’s record on salary payments and commended state governors for their performance, although he did not provide further details in the remarks contained in the available report.

The President thanked the people of Kaduna State for supporting him in the previous presidential election, noting that their votes contributed to his victory. He subsequently appealed to Nigerians to renew his mandate in 2027, promising to sustain his commitments to prosperity, continuity, progress and development.

Addressing children at the rally, Tinubu also spoke about his administration’s commitment to the future of the country. However, the available transcript ended before he completed the statement.

The gathering at Ranchers Bees Stadium marked the formal launch of the APC’s presidential campaign for the 2027 general elections, bringing together party leaders and supporters as the ruling party began mobilising support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
