At least five countries have secured places in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 16, following Norway national football team’s victory over Ivory Coast national football team on Tuesday.
Norway sealed qualification with a 2-1 win in the Round of 32, thanks to goals from Antonio Nusa and Erling Haaland. A late strike from Amad Diallo was not enough to prevent the Elephants from crashing out of the tournament.
With the victory, Norway joins Canada men’s national soccer team, Morocco national football team, Paraguay national football team and Brazil national football team in the Round of 16.
The Round of 16 is set to begin on Saturday, with Canada taking on Morocco in one of the opening fixtures.
More Round of 32 matches will be played later today and tomorrow as the remaining qualification spots are decided.
