Borno Police Rescue Two Kidnapped Boys, Hunt Underway for Abductors

The Borno State Police Command has successfully rescued two young boys, aged four and five, who were abducted from the Jan Block area of Jere Local Government Area.

Police Public Relations Officer ASP Nahun Daso confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday. The command said the rescued children were among three boys reported missing on Thursday, leading the Jere Division to launch an investigation. Later that day, one of the boys was returned home with a note demanding N10 million for the release of the remaining two.

Daso said operatives on Friday mounted a surveillance and ambush at the designated ransom collection point.

“At about 0300 hours, the abductors, upon suspecting police presence, abandoned the two boys and the decoy ransom and fled,” he stated, adding that poor visibility hindered efforts to arrest the suspects.

The children were rescued unharmed and reunited with their family.

Commissioner of Police Naziru Abdulmajid has ordered a discreet investigation to apprehend the fleeing suspects and directed divisional commands to intensify patrols, stop-and-search operations, and other security measures to curb violent crimes across the state.
