The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has lost its 2023 presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who announced his exit from the party with immediate effect.
He disclosed this in a press statement dated March 29, 2026, where he said the decision followed the need for a strategic political realignment amid the evolving dynamics of Nigeria’s political landscape.
Kwankwaso expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunity to serve as its National Leader and presidential candidate during the 2023 general elections, describing the decision to leave the party as a difficult one.
Therefore ,he affirmed that the current trajectory of the nation’s politics necessitated identifying with another political platform that offers a better opportunity to effectively pursue national change.
He added that “I wish to formally announce my resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) with immediate effect,”.
