Eight people, including a baby girl, have been confirmed dead following the collapse of a storey building near Alakija Bus Stop along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway in Satellite Town, Lagos.
Emergency responders have rescued 26 people from the rubble, while fears remain that more victims, including shop owners, are still trapped beneath the debris.
Rescue operations are ongoing, with emergency personnel working tirelessly to locate and evacuate survivors. Those rescued have been transferred to medical teams for treatment.
Heavy-duty equipment, including excavators, has been deployed to speed up debris removal and improve access to the collapsed structure.
Authorities have appealed to residents to remain calm and avoid the area to allow rescue teams unhindered access as the operation continues.
