Former Fenerbahçe striker Serdar Dursun has questioned whether Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen possesses the technical qualities required to thrive at Barcelona, despite praising the Nigerian as one of Europe’s most talented strikers.
Osimhen enjoyed another outstanding campaign with Galatasaray, playing a pivotal role in the club’s successful defence of the Turkish Super Lig title. The 27-year-old finished the season with 22 goals and eight assists across all competitions, further cementing his reputation as one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards.
His impressive form has continued to fuel transfer speculation, with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Chelsea all reportedly monitoring his situation ahead of the 2026/27 season.
However, Dursun believes Osimhen’s technical ability may not suit Barcelona’s possession-based style of football.
Speaking on the Cup Diary programme on Spor Smart, the former Turkish international acknowledged Osimhen’s quality but argued that the striker lacks the refined technique traditionally associated with Barcelona players.
“I don’t think Osimhen can play for Barcelona. Osimhen is a talented player, but he doesn’t have a clean technique,” Dursun said, according to Fanatik.
Dursun’s remarks come amid reports that Barcelona are considering a move for Argentine striker Julián Álvarez instead of Osimhen.
With pre-season preparations for the 2026/27 campaign set to begin, the former Napoli star is expected to decide his future in the coming weeks as interest from Europe’s top clubs continues to grow.
