The United States has condemned the recent attack on a village in Kaduna State that reportedly left at least 30 people, including children, dead, and has urged the Nigerian government to intensify efforts to tackle violence against Christians in the country’s Middle Belt.
The condemnation was contained in a statement shared on Saturday by the US Bureau of African Affairs on X.
The bureau expressed sympathy to the families of those killed in the early morning attack, which took place on July 27.
“The United States condemns the early morning July 27 attack on a village in Nigeria’s Kaduna State that reportedly killed at least 30 people, including children,” the statement said.
The US also extended its condolences to the victims’ families.
“We express our deepest condolences to the loved ones of the deceased.”
The US Bureau of African Affairs called on the Nigerian government to strengthen efforts to address recurring violence against Christians in the Middle Belt, stressing the need for improved security in affected communities.
According to the statement, the United States will continue to encourage the Federal Government to confront the ongoing violence and enhance protection for vulnerable communities.
“We will continue to urge the Government of Nigeria to address rampant violence against Christians in the Middle Belt,” the bureau stated.
