Wike Declares ‘Bad People Won’t Prevail’ Amid Rivers Crisis

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has expressed confidence that “bad people” will not prevail in Rivers State, declaring that divine intervention will ensure justice, as he spoke during a thank-you visit to the Bonny Island area of the state on Thursday.

“I appreciate you because you have shown me love and shown that you are people that can be trusted.

“I have told people that I don’t believe in generalizing, if for example somebody in Bonny disappoints you, you said Bonny people are bad, that’s very wrong.

“There are different kinds of people. There are places you have armed robbers, you have good people who stay there. So you can’t say because someone is bad so everyone there is bad. That’s not it.

He stressed that the good people far outnumber those he accused of wanting to tarnish their image, expressing confidence that, by God’s infinite mercy, evil would not triumph over light.

His remarks come amid heightened political tension following the Rivers State House of Assembly’s initiation of impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
