A women group under the banner of Edo in Safe Hands Women Wing has declared its support for the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo, citing the developmental achievements recorded across various sectors of Edo State.
The group, led by Hon. Evelyn Enibokun, paid a courtesy visit to the Government House in Benin City, where members expressed their readiness to collaborate with the governor and contribute to the success of his administration.
According to Enibokun, the group, whose members were previously loyal to the administration of former Governor Godwin Obaseki, has resolved to support Governor Okpebholo following what it described as his visible development efforts across the state.
She said the group has members spread across Edo State and is prepared to mobilise more than 5,000 women in support of the governor’s development agenda.
“We love good things and appreciate Governor Monday Okpebholo for what his administration is doing for Edo people. We have over 5,000 women who are ready to support development and growth across the state,” she said.
Receiving the delegation, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Mobilisation and Engagement, Hon. Utubor Eugene, commended the women for identifying with the administration and supporting its developmental programmes.
He noted that many members of the group had previously supported the Obaseki administration but had now embraced Governor Okpebholo’s leadership because of the projects being executed across the state.
Eugene said the governor’s interventions in infrastructure, security, education, healthcare and other sectors had continued to attract public support.
He also encouraged the women to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) to further strengthen the administration’s development efforts.
The governor’s aide further urged the group to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election and Governor Okpebholo in the 2028 governorship election, stressing that the Federal Government’s support was contributing to Edo State’s development.
He highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, including the construction of the flyover at Ramat Park, Ikpoba Hill, and another at Adesuwa Junction on Sapele Road, as evidence of the administration’s commitment to transforming the state.
Eugene added that discussions were ongoing to formally welcome members of the group into the APC.
