‘Don’t Dig Anything Less Than Gold’ — Bukky Wright Tells Women to Set High Standards in Relationships

Veteran Nollywood actress Bukky Wright has urged women not to be ashamed of having high standards or making financial demands in relationships, saying there is nothing wrong with seeking partners who can meet their expectations.

Speaking during a recent episode of The Moraya Show, Wright criticised what she described as the hypocrisy of some men who label women with high expectations as “gold diggers.”

According to the actress, women should not settle for anything less than “gold,” insisting there is nothing wrong with wanting a financially stable partner.

She also advised men to pursue only women they can comfortably afford, rather than criticising women whose expectations exceed their financial capacity.

“I hate it when I hear men calling women gold diggers. What do you expect her to dig before? I won’t advise any woman to dig anything less than gold.

“If you cannot afford a woman, don’t go for her. Go for the one you can afford,” she said.

Reflecting on her younger years, Wright recalled that many young women avoided dating men their own age because they often had little to offer financially.

“I remember when I was growing up, we would not date our age mates because what can you offer?

“As a man, if you are dating somebody whose level is higher than yours, then you are in trouble. That is why I said cut your coat according to your cloth,” the actress added.

Bukky Wright’s remarks have sparked fresh conversations about relationship expectations, financial compatibility, and the ongoing debate over whether women should be criticised for seeking financially secure partners.
