EPL: Man City, Liverpool in Fierce Battle to Close Gap on Arsenal

The stage is set for one of the biggest English Premier League clashes of the season, as Manchester City welcomes Liverpool to the Etihad Stadium this weekend.

The match will take place on Sunday evening and the kick-off time is 5.30 pm, Nigerian time.

Both teams head to the game after winning their last Premier League games against Bournemouth and Aston Villa, respectively.

The Cityzens defeated Bournemouth 3-1, while the Reds won 2-0 against Aston Villa.

The last time both teams met in the Premier League was in February this year.

Arne Slot’s side defeated Pep Guardiola’s men 2-0, thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Liverpool currently sits in the 6th position on the Premier League table with 18 points from 10 games, while Man City are in 3rd position with 19 points from the same number of games.

A win for City will see them move to second position with four points behind leaders Arsenal, while a win for Liverpool will also see them move to second position with five points behind the Gunners.

Man City manager Pep Guardiola has a clean slate of health in his squad.

The Spaniard will now only have selection headaches as he picks his XI from a fully fit squad to face the visitors.

As for Liverpool manager Arne Slot, the Dutchman will be without defender Giovanni Leoni and first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker due to injury.

Slot is also expected to conduct late fitness tests on Federico Chiesa and Hugo Ekitike to determine their availability for the clash against Manchester City.
