NiMet Forecasts Three Days of Sunshine and Hazy Skies Across Nigeria

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast mainly sunny skies with hazy conditions nationwide from Sunday through Tuesday.

According to the agency’s weather outlook issued on Saturday in Abuja, the northern parts of Nigeria are expected to experience mostly sunny skies throughout the period, while hazy atmospheric conditions will prevail across the North-Central states.

NiMet also indicated that on Sunday, parts of Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta states may experience localised morning thunderstorms accompanied by light rainfall. Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are expected in Rivers, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa states.

For Monday, the agency forecast continued sunshine across the northern region and hazy conditions in the North-Central zone. Southern states are expected to have cloudy skies in the morning, with isolated thunderstorms developing later in the day.

By Tuesday, sunny and hazy conditions are expected to persist in the North and North-Central regions, while the southern part of the country will experience cloudy mornings followed by isolated thunderstorms with moderate rainfall.

NiMet has advised residents—especially those with respiratory conditions—to take precautions against airborne dust particles, while urging motorists to drive cautiously during rainfall.

The agency also called on airline operators to secure airport-specific weather updates from NiMet for safe flight planning and encouraged the public to stay informed through its official weather channels.
